Everything began with a desire to have a ride. As
I failed to participate in the action the previous weekend arranged
by Taras (Bondarchuk) I was eager to drive somewhere myself. You
know I have got a summer house in New Lyady and often while driving
a question appears in my mind, why the road to the place is so
long and winding. I have always dreamt to know if I could get
to my place by a shorter and straighter way. Wishing my dream
to come true I gave a task to my navigator (Alexei Naugolnykh),
who worked out several absolutely crazy routes on the tracks which
had not been in use for a long time because they were depicted
not in all maps. We called the best of the best: Fanfan (Gataullin)
and the Khabibullins came in time. The Khabibullins' car was not
prepared for the trip at all and we had to give him two spare
accumulators as they did not have charging and both winches were
out of order into the bargain. In Fanfan's car was out of order
only the front winch.
Our track was quite unpredictable. We searched the road to cherished
Lyady. While pulling the Khabibullins out of the first stream
we tore the semi-axis on the front axle of our car, so had to
continue the way like three cripples. We drove for a very long
time and to make up for it now a prepared car can go on this road
following our tracks without any fear.
The navigation car went in the head of the column. In some time
we exchanged navigators. While examining the area the navigating
car had to detach from the column at the distance of one kilometre
away so that to explore the territory in a good way. It is important
to take into account that the experience of participating in competitions
is quite valuable for navigators. I must admit that the difference
between navigating by Alexei Naugolnykh who did his best to lead
us avoiding marshland and the other ones was considerable.
This trip started at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and finished at
7 in the morning the next day. We drove all through the night
and covered 12 km. The Khabibullins had no head lights, what was
more had no frames.
We came back feeling more dead than alive but extremely pleased!

the magazine 'A.Z.S. Perm'.
